Last year we tested a concept phone from Infinix sa 160W fast charging system. The company has since continued to work on battery technology and moved charging speeds even higher. Here is a quick sample video published by CEO Benjamin Jiang.
Infinix calls this new system “Thunder Charge” and, based on the label on the screen, has a maximum rated power of 180 W. The clip is only about 10 seconds long, but the battery indicator increases by almost a full percentage.
So how fast is Thunder Charge? We don’t know yet. The goal for last year’s 160W system was to fully charge the 4,000mAh battery in just 10 minutes. Although the company has not yet released a retail device with 160W charging, it has launched a market Infinix Note 12 VIP with 120W charging. It has a slightly larger battery capacity, 4,500 mAh, and the official charge time 0-100% is 17 minutes (we have practical review of 12 VIP if you are interested).
The concept of the 2021 was not just about charging, it also had a color-changing foil on the back and an electroluminescent foil that could be used for alerts. There could be more on this new device, so stay tuned for more updates.
